Katie Botha • May 27, 2021

“God continues to bless the Saint Mary’s community, and I am grateful that the Lord has brought Mary Jordan to our school to serve as Assistant Principal ! Our faculty, staff and administration have done a remarkable job during the past year, and I know that our new Assistant Principal will help us to achieve even greater things in the future. For the past eight years, Mary has demonstrated excellent leadership skills at Bishop Ireton High School in the Arlington diocese, and I look forward to welcoming her to our community. Please join me in praying for Mary and her family as they get settled in their new home here in Richmond!”.

Rev. Michael Renninger, Pastor

Mary Jordan joins the Saint Mary’s Catholic School team with both instructional and leadership experience in JK-12 settings. During the selection process, Mary shared that one of her favorite aspects of her role as Assistant Principal for Student Life at Bishop Ireton High School was working with the school Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry to plan retreats, liturgies and programming related to our Catholic faith.

Before serving the Arlington diocese, Mrs. Jordan was a teacher and advisor for several years at The Langley School, a JK-8 school in McLean, Virginia. Prior to this she taught in both middle and elementary settings in Crozet and North Garden, Virginia.

Mary Jordan holds a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education as well as a Master of Teaching from the University of Virginia. She has recently relocated to Richmond, Virginia with her husband, John, and two young sons.

Faithful Citizenship Resources In anticipation of Election Day on November 5, the Virginia Catholic Conference has prepared voter education resources to help Catholics confidently vote with an informed conscience. Those resources can be found on the Catholic Diocese of Richmond's website . School Day Reminders This year, Election Day is a regular school day with a regular bell schedule at Saint Mary's Catholic School. In prior years, it has coincided with Parent-Teacher Conferences resulting in a day-off for students; however, that is not the case this school year. Many of our students across all grade levels are aware of the importance of Election Day. We anticipate the days leading up to Election Day and those following it will provide topics of conversation that students may choose to engage in both inside and outside the classroom. If necessary, our teachers may offer age-appropriate explanations of the day's events and results. As family members, we encourage you to guide your children as they navigate their thoughts and feelings over the coming weeks and months.
