Assessment Testing

Assessment Testing

Saint Mary’s participates in the Diocesan standardized testing program.

As of Fall 2022, students are administered the NWEA MAP Growth assessment. This assessment replaces the Performance Series Test formerly given to our students. The MAP Growth will be given to all students in grades 1-8. No preparation is needed to take the tests as overall performance is being accessed.

MAP Growth is a computer-adaptive assessment that is given three times per year (fall, winter, and spring) and used for instructional purposes in the areas of reading and mathematics. At the end of each testing period, you will receive a Family Report that provides a summary of how your child is performing in the academic areas of mathematics and reading, as measured by the most recent MAP Growth test.

A first round of assessments is given in the fall to collect baseline information followed by mid-year (winter) and final (spring) assessments which allow us to monitor student academic growth over time. It is important to remember that this is just one of the many tools teachers use to tailor instruction to meet the needs of all students throughout the school year.

We are committed to providing families as much information as we can concerning the MAP Growth assessment. Therefore, more information regarding the MAP Growth assessment can be found by visiting this site.

As always, we value your partnership in educating your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Testing Coordinator, Mr. Michael Hicks.
