NOTICE: School-paid Student Accident Insurance

Katie Botha • September 14, 2023

Dear Parents & Guardians:

Because we feel that accident coverage is very important, we have secured a special School Time Accident Policy for all students attending our school and participating in any school sponsored and supervised aftercare program.

The cost of the insurance ($15.50 per student) is paid by the school. This coverage is being offered through A-G Administrators. The insurance carrier is US Fire Insurance Company.

In insurance terms, this School Time policy is classified as excess coverage. This means that benefits will be paid that are not payable by any other insurance policy or group service contract. If the student has no other insurance, the policy will pay the full benefits for covered charges due to an accident up to the policy maximum.

If you have coverage through an HMO or (similar organization), you must comply with their requirements or your claim will not be covered under this policy.

This insurance only applies if all of the following conditions are met:

(1) The accident results from a school sponsored and supervised activity;
(2) Initial treatment is rendered within 90 days from the date of the accident; and
(3) A completed claim form is mailed to A-G Administrators and postmarked within 30 days after the date of the accident. The claim form must be provided by the school.

Other terms and restrictions may apply.

If you have any questions regarding this notification, please reach out to me directly.

Sincerely,

Amanda Esparza, Principal

Faithful Citizenship Resources In anticipation of Election Day on November 5, the Virginia Catholic Conference has prepared voter education resources to help Catholics confidently vote with an informed conscience. Those resources can be found on the Catholic Diocese of Richmond's website . School Day Reminders This year, Election Day is a regular school day with a regular bell schedule at Saint Mary's Catholic School. In prior years, it has coincided with Parent-Teacher Conferences resulting in a day-off for students; however, that is not the case this school year. Many of our students across all grade levels are aware of the importance of Election Day. We anticipate the days leading up to Election Day and those following it will provide topics of conversation that students may choose to engage in both inside and outside the classroom. If necessary, our teachers may offer age-appropriate explanations of the day's events and results. As family members, we encourage you to guide your children as they navigate their thoughts and feelings over the coming weeks and months.
