PO ST MEET SPORTS REPORT FROM MR. SCHAEFER

On Wednesday, October 13th, the Saint Mary’s cross country team competed at the Roslyn Retreat Center. The course is 2.25 miles of hilly terrain that serves as a tough test for any runner.

Congrats to Virginia H. (7th grade) for running the 12th best time ever on the Roslyn course! Lee Lee H.(6th) is not far behind the top times. Lee Lee had an impressive come from behind victory in her race making up 20 seconds on the leader on the final lap.

Overall in the girls’ division Virginia placed 2nd and Lee Lee placed 3rd out of almost 80 runners.

On the boys’ side we had 3 finishers in the top 20 which is fantastic when you consider that over 100 runners ran yesterday. Christopher B. (8th Grade) led the way for our team followed by Alex C. (8th) and Leo S. (6th).

As a team we finished 5th overall in both the boys and girls divisions. Well done, Mighty Monarchs!

Faithful Citizenship Resources In anticipation of Election Day on November 5, the Virginia Catholic Conference has prepared voter education resources to help Catholics confidently vote with an informed conscience. Those resources can be found on the Catholic Diocese of Richmond's website . School Day Reminders This year, Election Day is a regular school day with a regular bell schedule at Saint Mary's Catholic School. In prior years, it has coincided with Parent-Teacher Conferences resulting in a day-off for students; however, that is not the case this school year. Many of our students across all grade levels are aware of the importance of Election Day. We anticipate the days leading up to Election Day and those following it will provide topics of conversation that students may choose to engage in both inside and outside the classroom. If necessary, our teachers may offer age-appropriate explanations of the day's events and results. As family members, we encourage you to guide your children as they navigate their thoughts and feelings over the coming weeks and months.
