Katie Botha • August 31, 2022

What trail will you blaze? Finding God’s purpose for your life.

It’s not everyday that a world-renowned athlete, author and speaker visits our campus, so SAVE THE DATE: Wednesday, September 21st at 6:30pm for an evening you will not soon forget!

This event is FREE for anyone in the community to attend. We simply request the courtesy of an RSVP to ensure there are enough seats for everyone to witness 14,000 miles of adventure, stories and insight.

This gathering will also serve as the Race Packet Pick-Up for Early Bird Registrants of the Go Forth! 5K presented by the Abbate Agency and Short Pump Orthodontics.

ABOVE: Jennifer Pharr Davis was named one of National Geographic’s Top 10 Adventurers of 2012.

Read more about our special guest below and be sure to watch her YouTube speaker reel!

In 2011, Jennifer Pharr Davis became the overall record holder on the Appalachian Trail. By hiking 2,181 miles in 46 days – an average of 47 miles per day – she became the first female to ever set that mark.

But her journey was about more than just records or numbers; it was about endurance and faith, and most of all love. The most amazing part of this story is not found at the finish, but is discovered through the many challenges, lessons and relationships that present themselves along the trail.

SPECIAL THANKS TO JENNIFER & BREW DAVIS FOR THEIR KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY.
THIS EVENT IS MADE POSSIBLE THANKS TO A CONNECTION MADE BY SAINT MARY’S PARENT, JOHN WIATT AND SMCS STAFF MEMBER, JENNIFER JANUS WHO SHARED THE VISION FOR MAKING THIS EVENT POSSIBLE.

Faithful Citizenship Resources In anticipation of Election Day on November 5, the Virginia Catholic Conference has prepared voter education resources to help Catholics confidently vote with an informed conscience. Those resources can be found on the Catholic Diocese of Richmond's website . School Day Reminders This year, Election Day is a regular school day with a regular bell schedule at Saint Mary's Catholic School. In prior years, it has coincided with Parent-Teacher Conferences resulting in a day-off for students; however, that is not the case this school year. Many of our students across all grade levels are aware of the importance of Election Day. We anticipate the days leading up to Election Day and those following it will provide topics of conversation that students may choose to engage in both inside and outside the classroom. If necessary, our teachers may offer age-appropriate explanations of the day's events and results. As family members, we encourage you to guide your children as they navigate their thoughts and feelings over the coming weeks and months.
