FLOWERS FOR FOX: PLANTING YOUR SEEDS

Katie Botha • March 9, 2022

If you purchased a beautifully decorated envelope of marigold seeds to support Fox Elementary School, maybe you need some guidance on what to do next. Mrs. Janus, our Garden Club Sponsor, has kindly shared the following instructions:

  • Sow marigold seed directly in the ground and cover with a thin layer of soil (about 1/8 inch deep).
  • Water thoroughly.
  • Thin to 8-18 inches apart after seedlings have sprouted.

Note: You may want to wait to plant your seeds until early to mid-April. Marigolds can also be started early indoors under grow lights for transplanting outdoors about six to eight weeks before the last frost date.

If you did not have a chance to purchase seeds (we had a limited supply!) but would still like to support Mrs. Seavey’s Exceptional Education Classroom, please click here to view her wish list or click here to join our Parish in assisting Fox Elementary’s school-wide supply drive.
