In 2013, Virginia passed a law requiring every school system to provide educational information to parents annually about eating disorders and scoliosis. This information is provided every year for parents of current students in fifth through eighth grades.
Both scoliosis and eating disorders are serious health problems that usually start in childhood or adolescence. The earlier they are diagnosed and treated, the better the outcome.
