Dear Monarch Community,

It is with great sadness and yet with faith in our Lord’s death and Resurrection that we share the passing of Pam Peebles.

Just a few weeks ago, Pam was creating joyful chaos in our hallways with her simple presence. There is no doubt that she topped our students’ list of favorite substitutes after spending more than four decades as a member of Saint Mary’s ECDC and Elementary School Faculty teaching Kindergarten, First and Third grades.

It goes without saying that Mrs. Peebles left an indelible mark on our lives. By leaving far too soon she leaves us scrambling for the right words and wishing we had her gentle smile and steady way to guide us through our grief.

If your child/children knew and loved Mrs. Peebles, we trust that you will share news of her death in a way that feels right for your family.

Our school counselor, Ms. Cinnamon will be on-site and available for students. Information regarding funeral arrangements will be shared once it becomes available. In the meantime, I know you all will join me in praying for Pam, her loving family and all those she leaves behind to mourn her passing.

Eternal rest grant unto Pam, O’Lord.

With Sorrow,
Brandon J. Hess

Faithful Citizenship Resources In anticipation of Election Day on November 5, the Virginia Catholic Conference has prepared voter education resources to help Catholics confidently vote with an informed conscience. Those resources can be found on the Catholic Diocese of Richmond's website . School Day Reminders This year, Election Day is a regular school day with a regular bell schedule at Saint Mary's Catholic School. In prior years, it has coincided with Parent-Teacher Conferences resulting in a day-off for students; however, that is not the case this school year. Many of our students across all grade levels are aware of the importance of Election Day. We anticipate the days leading up to Election Day and those following it will provide topics of conversation that students may choose to engage in both inside and outside the classroom. If necessary, our teachers may offer age-appropriate explanations of the day's events and results. As family members, we encourage you to guide your children as they navigate their thoughts and feelings over the coming weeks and months.
