Dear Saint Mary’s Families,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope your time away was filled with family, friends and fun!
Thank you for your patience this week as we made decisions regarding school delays and closings. I hope that you all received the texts without any problem. So that you know the order of notification, if there is a change you will first receive a text. I will then send an email which may include additional information. I will then contact the news stations.
I want to thank the 83 families who contributed to The Wisemen’s Purse. Each faculty and staff member is receiving a wonderful Epiphany gift today thanks to your generosity.
Our eighth grade students are just months away from being high school students! While your child’s academic career may end with us in eighth grade, we are committed to making sure your child is prepared for their next step. This includes supporting your child through the process of high school admissions.
We are sure to have Saint Mary’s alumni representing us at many schools in the area. Our eighth graders are applying to Benedictine College Preparatory, Chesterfield County Specialty Centers, Colegio Franklin D. Roosevelt (in Peru), Collegiate, Henrico County Specialty Centers, Maggie Walker Governor’s School, St. Catherine’s, St. Christopher’s School, St. Gertrude School, St. Margaret, Steward School, Trinity Episcopal School. Since many of our students are applying to more than one school, as of right now a total of 91 applications that have come through.
Thanks to the hard work of Anne Leigh Bisese all applications that were received before December 11th to private schools as well as Maggie Walker Governors’ School were mailed or hand-delivered between December 19th and today.
For those with children applying to Henrico County’s Specialty Centers – your child will bring home a copy of their transcript today. Upload their transcript to the ZippSlip account you created during the application process. The teacher recommendations will either be mailed or delivered to the appropriate schools by the deadline of January 12th.
Stay warm this weekend!
Joyfully,
Jenni Ellis
Principal
