Sister Nancy Murray:

Sister Nancy Murray, OP (sister of actor Bill Murray) will be at Saint Mary’s on Wednesday, April 26 to perform her one-person show, Catherine of Sienna: A Woman for Our Times.

Sister Nancy Murray, is making her mark on audiences across the country and throughout the world, bringing to life the Dominican Saint Catherine of Siena, Doctor of the Church. With simple props and a fertile imagination, Sister Nancy portrays Catherine as the colorful, strong, passionate and enthusiastic personality that she was. Thanks to Sister Nancy’s gift of transforming herself into this 14th century saint and patroness of the Dominican Order, numerous churches, schools and organizations have become acquainted with Catherine’s fierce devotion to and love for God.

Tickets are $5 online or $10 at the door, and are available here or at the school front desk.

 

8th Grade Student vs Faculty Kickball Game: We hope you can join us and want to apologize for the late notice.  We experienced slight difficulties securing this event.  It is happening 8th Grade Students vs Faculty Kickball game.  Thursday April 27 Deep Run Park (Field near the lake, same field as Go Forth 5K) starting at 6:00PM until 7:30PM.  Our 8th Grade students play faculty/staff, other students and families please come to support, watch, and have a fun time.

 

Student Council Sponsored Middle School Semi-Formal Dance: April 28, 7:30PM – 9:30PM, Gym. The Student council is sponsoring a spring dance as a fundraiser for Housing Families First. The mission of Housing Families First is to provide families experiencing homelessness the tools to achieve housing stability. The goal is not only to assist families in finding permanent housing, but also to ensure that each family has access to the supportive services necessary to achieve long term housing stability. A representative from this most worthy charity spoke to our middle school students at our February Brown Bag Lunch.

We need help to make this dance a success. Please use the sign up genius link to sign up to volunteer!

The cost of the dance will be $5 or one of the following items listed below. However, we are sure that Housing Families First would happily accept both.

Items that are needed by the Housing Families First:

New pillows, individually wrapped snack foods, toilet paper, paper towels, large black trash bags, full size toiletry bottles, plastic shower curtains, shower curtain rings, bath towels, twin sheets, brooms, mops, laundry detergent, household cleaners, flashlight with batteries, GRTC bus cards, or gift cards to K-Mart, Target, or Walmart.

Dress code: Boys: khaki pants and collared shirts; no jeans or T-shirts.

Dress code: Girls: dress or skirt or dress pants: no jeans or T-shirts.

Permission slips will be handed out at school the week of the dance and available at check in.

Please park and walk up to drop off and pick up your child for the dance.

 

8th Grade Community Project – Jack Gotta, Stephen Lord, and Thomas Tucholka have designed four T-Shirts: Basketball, Volleyball, Track/Cross Country, and Monarch Pride. If you would like to order, please see the front office for an order form. Each T-shirt costs $17, you can customize the back with a name or number for an additional $2 for each.

 

Saint Mary’s GALA:

April 29 at the Historic Jefferson Hotel!

Tickets are going fast and only a limited number still remain.  Tickets are on sale until April 21st or until we sell out.  To get your tickets, click here to register.

Keep a lookout for ways to assist with the week of and day of Gala activities.  Many hands will make light work.  A sign-up genius will be coming your way next week.  We’ll need as much support as possible, especially leading up to the Gala on Thursday (4/27), Friday (4/28), and the morning/early afternoon of Saturday (4/29).  All volunteer hours will count toward your yearly total.

NEW LIVE AUCTION ITEM! This year:  Have you ever wanted to drive in and be first in line for afternoon car line pickup?  Beat the line, show up anytime during afternoon pick-up, and have a reserved front row spot to pick-up your children.  Easy in, easy out!

After School Care: Is in need of some items, can you help with a donation.  Have you started or finished your Spring Cleaning and have an item listed below.  Our ASC staff would truly appreciate your donation.

Movies (G,PG) both DVD and VHS, Radio, Magazines (Sports Illustrated, Highlight etc…), Legos, K’nex,  Games (Connect Four, Brainquest, Zingo, Monopoly, Yahtzee, Mancala, Bananagrams, etc…)  

NO puzzles please we have plenty.  Items can be dropped off in the school office.  Please mark them ASC.  Thank you all in advance for your kind generosity.
