Jenni Ellis Named Saint Mary’s Catholic School Principal:  We are extremely pleased to announce that Jenni Ellis has been appointed as Principal at Saint Mary’s Catholic School. As you know, we have conducted a nationwide search for a new principal that would uphold the high standards of excellence at Saint. Mary’s. We are blessed that this search has brought Ms. Ellis to Saint Mary’s Catholic School and I ask that you join me in welcoming Ms. Ellis to our community.  Ms. Ellis Bio

Golf Outing Thank You!   Thanks to many generous families who helped to sponsor faculty/staff participation in the Saint Mary’s Catholic School Golf Outing for the Endowment. Together, you contributed nearly $500 so that teachers who wanted to play could be part of the Golf Outing at no cost. Your gifts benefit our school’s Endowment, which helps our school today and sustains it for the future.

Thank you to our wonderful sponsors for the Outing:  C&C’s Cinnamon Rolls; Diamond Springs Water; Tony DiServio Insurance, Inc.; Glory Days Grill of Gleneagles; J Rocco’s Pizza; Lafayette, Ayers & Whitlock, PLC – Attorneys at Law; McNamara Services, LLC; Richmond International Forest Products; Richmond Moms Blog www.rvamomsblog.com; Royal Chevrolet – The Mugford Family; TNT Auto Rentals; TNT Limousine; TNT Transportation Services; Teeth by Talton; True North Foliar; Tweed; and Wellesley Animal Hospital.

Many thanks to John Benton for chairing this event, to all the volunteers who came to help make it a success, and also to all of the golfers who played in this year’s Outing.  Jennifer Janus

Our Student Council Association is sponsoring:  A school wide “PINK OUT DAY” to support breast cancer research.  The Pink Out Day will cost $3.00, and all of the money will go to the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute.  Make sure your bring in your $3.00 contribution so you can wear your pinkest tag day outfit on October 27.

Middle School Families Conference Information:  A note from our amazing Middle School Teachers.  Unfortunately, the number of conference sessions does not allow for every middle school parent to meet with every middle school teacher.  A rule of thumb is, if you want clarification or if you have concerns, by all means set up a conference.  If you are comfortable with your student’s work and grades, then there’s no need for a conference. The Middle School Teachers understand.

Veterans Day Salute:   Our Veteran’s Day Assembly will be on Friday, November 10th, at 2:00, in the Church. The assembly is for grades 2-8. The speaker this year is Mr. Dana Carroll. Mr. Carroll is the grandfather of Elliott in Mrs. Mickle’s class, a US Air Force veteran, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Director.  Click Here for the Veteran’s Day Salute and Click Here for a letter explaining the salute.  Your Salute must be returned to the office for Mrs. Klein by November 3rd.

Parent Conferences November 6 & 7:  Monday, November 6, parent/teacher conferences will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Conferences will scheduled in 10 minute intervals with 5 minutes in between.  Families may schedule conferences through Sign up Genius beginning October 29th until Friday, November 3rd at 12:00 p.m.   Families with 3 or more students have first preference.  A formal conference may not be necessary for all families.

Reading Decathlon:  Our exciting new reading incentive program.  Your student learned about the program in Library the week of October 2nd and many students are on their way to the Purple Level.  Our goal is to create and encourage life-long readers.  Click Here for more information and to see a sample of a student Reading Decathlon Log.
