Dear Saint Mary’s Families,
I hope you are all continuing to enjoy your summer. It has been great to see students and parents that have stopped by our temporary office. Construction is going well and I have faith that all will be completed on time.
Many of you are Amazon Prime members and know that Prime Day is coming this Monday, June 16th starting at 3:00 p.m. and will run through Tuesday, July 17th.
If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to support Saint Mary’s through using AmazonSmile and make sure you have selected “Saint Mary’s Catholic School – Richmond” as the organization you are supporting.
AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice.
Every item available for purchase on www.amazon.com is also available on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com) at the same price. You will see eligible products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product detail pages.
This way for every great deal that you get on Amazon will also be supporting Saint Mary Catholic School. If you would like more information about AmazonSmile, go to http://smile.amazon.com/about.
Additionally, if you use Chrome as your browser and want to make sure that every time you go to Amazon to make a purchase you are using AmazonSmile you can easily add the Smile Always Chrome Extension.
Your family’s generosity abounds! The Saint Mary’s community donated a total of $8,054.57 to Noah’s Children this past school year through offerings at our school Mass each week. The founder and medical director of Noah’s Children let us know how much they appreciate our support and said, “I am overwhelmed by this amazing generosity and support of Noah’s Children.” Thank you to all of you and all of your children who contributed.
Additionally, I got word from Mrs. Forkey today that the mission trip to Belize leaves tomorrow with the 282 pairs of flip flops our students donated as well as some jump ropes that the 8th graders made.
Interviews are under way for the music teacher position, as well as the part-time IB math teacher position and part-time IB science teacher position. Mrs. Schiavo let me know that she is will not be returning as a teacher next school year, but I am thrilled she will still be around campus as a Saint Mary’s grandparent. With Mrs. Tuskey moving back to the classroom full time, the call was made to all of our current faculty to apply for the IB Coordinator position. I am excited to announce that Mrs. Forkey will be serving as the IB Coordinator as well as teaching Science. Because of the additional responsibilities that come with being the IB Coordinator, I am looking for a part-time Science teacher.
The school office will be closed on Thursday, August 2nd. This is a day of professional development for 12-month employees and other office staff.
Class lists will be coming out in mid-August, at which time you will be getting all the back-to-school information. Please see below for the information and flyer for the Shoe Carnival sale going on next weekend.
Thank you for continuing to keep all of us in your prayers. I continue to keep all of you in mine.
Joyfully,
Jenni Ellis
Principal
