It is with a deep sense of loss and sadness that I learned of the sudden death of Hazel Lewane, former Principal of Saint Mary’s School, earlier today (Monday). After 14 years of leadership at Saint Mary’s School, Hazel retired in 2001. She remained active at the school, often substituting when needed, attending our functions as grandparent to recent graduates, and continuing to advise the school’s leadership with wisdom and grace. The suddenness of this news leaves us shaken and disoriented as we begin to grieve her loss and gather to celebrate her life. Hazel’s profound impact on Saint Mary’s school is marked by so many who learned to know Jesus through her sharing of his love. As Hazel taught so many of us to do, please join me in prayer to our God for Hazel and her family.
