Hello Parents, teachers, staff and students,
As you all know, Governor Northam, today, declared that all schools in the Commonwealth will be closed the remainder of the academic year. Personally, I am taking this hard as I am saddened by this information, particularly as it relates to our 8th graders and retirees. I am committed to providing student growth as well as teacher support and guidance as we work through the coming weeks.
Tonight and again tomorrow I will speak with other school leaders to help develop a larger plan as it might relate to Saint Mary’s Catholic School. In the meantime, teachers have already provided work for each student for this week. This should be the immediate focus for each student and teacher.
Beyond learning, our school community prays for each of you. We all have different circumstances and this doesn’t go unnoticed.
I have been sending regular communication on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and will continue to do so unless there is something needing immediate attention, much like the Superintendent’s memo this morning.
In my meeting with teachers and faculty this morning, it was stated multiple times how impressed they are with the work that students are doing. You should have seen their smiles! While we aren’t in a perfect situation we are surrounded and strengthened by a prodigiously perfect community. Together we will remain Mighty Monarchs!
In Christ,
Brandon
