7th Grade- This week we will finish The Lightning Thief. Since exams will be coming up any test would be a take home test or open book test. There is no exam for this class.
8th Grade- We will spend our time getting ready for the final exam and learning about diagramming sentences. Many of the students are exempt from the exam which is the result of having a 90 or greater average for the first 3 quarters of the year.

6th Grade Grammar and Writing- The last week will be given over to comprehensive review as the kids prepare for their first set of final exams. It’s an excellent time to focus on those note-taking skills they’ve heard about.
7th Grade Grammar and Writing– Early in the week, the 7th graders will have a quick quiz on the elements of fiction. After that, we’ll be open for questions all week in the run-up to finals. Knowing what one doesn’t know is a useful skill at such times, and the kids should scratch out a question or two, even if they’ve aced every test this year. And they didn’t.
8th Grade Literature and Writing– We’re all but finished with each other, and it makes me a little sad. To lighten the moment, the 8th grade will run quickly through in-class performances of The Importance of Being Earnest, an elegant though deeply goofy piece of work. Seems appropriate enough! Then they’ll deal with other people’s exams and the 30 or so culminating activities of graduation week.

They have also been given a large study packet of tests with answer keys to work at their own pace in preparation for the final exam. Students are encouraged to study old tests, concentrating on content area missed. Other than journal grades, there are no more assessments. We will spend next week reviewing.
