Tim Layton, Chair of the Saint Mary’s Catholic School Board, announces an updated mission statement.

The SMCS School Board’s mission statement revision discussions were facilitated by school board member Nick Schimick. After lengthy discussions, two alternative statements were offered for consideration by the school’s faculty and staff. Upon recommendation by majority vote of the staff, Fr. Michael Renninger, Pastor of Saint Mary’s, approved the updated mission statement for immediate use by Saint Mary’s School. Effective February 17, 2016, the purpose of Saint Mary’s School will be embodied in the statement:

Saint Mary’s School exists to provide an opportunity to grow in faith, wisdom and knowledge in a challenging academic environment formed by Catholic tradition. We are committed to the application of Christ’s teaching by instilling the value of service to others while providing our students with the necessary skills to further their educational pursuits. Our mission as a strong Catholic community is supported by high-quality educators, dedicated staff and invested families.
