From Therese Duane, your PTO President:
Happy New Year Saint Mary’s families!
I wanted to update you on some of the PTO efforts for the year. As many of you know our fundraising goals for the year were to raise money for new ECDC playground equipment, classroom novel sets for grades 3-8 and replacement of social studies texts grade 2-5 and math books grade K-5. During the year it was noted that other equipment at the larger playground is also in need of replacement which has been added to our list of goals through 2015.
As far as actually raising the money, we are off to a good start. Tag days and spirit nights continue to be a consistent way for families to support the PTO. Painless fundraising is also a great way to bring in a lot of funds. Bigger events such as Marketplace and the Super Bowl Raffle also did a great deal to support our efforts for the year. But that is just the beginning . . .
In a few weeks we will have the Dad’s chili cookoff and the musical review and I would encourage any and all of you to participate. It is also not too soon to start planning your special Saint Mary’s fundraising weekend May 2 – May 4. Please reserve those dates to join us for a wonderful gala and auction planned at the new Hilton in Short Pump. This will be complimented by an event for the entire family on May 4 at the Abbey. Sunday afternoon we will host the first 5k and 1 mile fun run so all members of the family can do something for their school and their fitness!
Please consider what you can do to support the efforts of the PTO with in person or otherwise. For our Catholic community to prosper, we all need to take part to see to its success! Personally I can tell you that it is an absolute privilege to serve our children and the hard working teachers and staff that come every day filled with the light of Christ to share that love with our children.
God Bless
Therese M. Duane
PTO President, 2013-2014
