Dear St. Mary’s School Families,
I am happy to announce that Dr. Cheryl B. Henig will serve as Interim Principal of Saint Mary’s School, beginning this week.
Cheryl Buscher Henig, Ph.D., is a career educator, teaching and leading at the pre-school, elementary, middle, high school, and post-graduate levels. As an Assistant Professor, she coordinated an innovative educational leadership preparation program at the University of Virginia and taught leadership and research courses in masters and doctoral programs. As a pk-12 educator, she spent most of her years at the middle school level and was named the Virginia Teacher of the Year in 1995 while teaching in Hanover County. In retirement, she has served as an educational consultant for school divisions and has taught graduate courses for UVA. Dr. Henig has been an active member of St. Mary’s parish since 1986 and is committed to serving the St. Mary’s community.
I am delighted that Dr. Henig is willing to provide outstanding leadership to the Saint Mary’s School Community during this time of transition. The formation of our Search Committee is proceeding, and I look forward to sharing information with you about the progress we are making in our search for a permanent principal for our outstanding school.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Henig into our school community. I know that you also will join me in thanking Robin Rooks for her outstanding work as “Teacher in Charge” during the past few weeks, along with Anne Leigh Bisese for her ongoing leadership in our school office.
May God continue to bless you and your loved ones.
Fr. Michael Renninger
