On August 7th I received the resignation of Mrs. Sharon Katzman as Middle School Religion teacher. Please join me in wishing Mrs. Katzman the very best as she pursues new interests and opportunities.
Faced with the need for an immediate replacement, I explored the opportunity to rehire former teachers who are well known to Saint Mary’s, hoping to avoid the need for a search that would extend the vacancy well into the school year. With a number of well qualified and credentialed candidates available to contact, Saint Mary’s is again fortunate to be touched by so many wonderful and talented individuals.
After careful consideration, I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Jeanne Slifka will return to Saint Mary’s to teach Middle School Religion. Mrs. Slifka, some may recall, taught 5th grade 8-9 years ago, but left Saint Mary’s to pursue a passion for working with children’s faith formation. The opportunity to utilize Jeanne’s skills and abilities as a teacher and her experience positively impacting the faith formation of youth to develop the Religious Instruction at Saint Mary’s is indeed a blessing!
Mrs. Slifka has agreed to begin teaching at Saint Mary’s as soon as her currently employment commitments can be fulfilled, necessitating a September 2nd start date. Mrs. Janice Jannuzzi, a former teacher at Saint Mary’s, has agreed to substitute for Mrs. Slifka as the interim Religion teacher.
Please join the faculty and staff of Saint Mary’s in welcoming Mrs. Slifka as well as extending our appreciation to Mrs. Jannuzzi. The Saint Mary’s community is once again blessed by the dedication, care and love of our extended Saint Mary’s family.
